After completing her studies as a violinist Monica Piccinini studied singing first with Franca Mattiucci, then with Elena Kriatchko, followed by training in baroque singing with Claudio Cavina and Rossana Bertini. Since 1999 she has collaborated regularly with Hesperion XXI and La Capella Reial de Catalunya directed by Jordi Savall. Since 2003 she has sung with Concerto Italiano under Rinaldo Alessandrini, performing madrigal repertoire by Monteverdi, Gesualdo, Marenzio, Luzzaschi and others. She has worked with a number of leading early music ensembles, including La Petite Bande, Ensemble Aurora, Le Parlement de Musique and Al Ayre Español.
