Leslie Caron is a French actress and dancer who shot to fame in the 1950s with much lauded American musicals like Daddy Long Legs, Lili and Gigi. She was discovered by Gene Kelly while searching for a co-star for one of the finest musicals in the history of cinema – An American in Paris – which won six Academy Awards. Her acting, singing and dancing talents made her one of the leading foreign musical artists of the American film industry.

Not confining herself to musicals, she moved into dramas and demonstrated her talents in films such as Gaby, Father Goose, The L-Shaped Room and Fanny. During the late 1960s and 1970s, she turned her focus to the European film industry. Apart from films, she appeared in television series as well as in the theatre.

She has received several awards and accolades throughout her career including a British Academy Film Award, a Golden Globe Award, an Emmy Award, the Ordre National du Mérite and Commandeur de la Légion d’honneur.
