Soprano Sabina von Walther studied with Helena Łazarska and Walter Berry, and continued her musical education with Leone Magiera, Dietrich Fischer-Dieskau and Edda Moser. She has won a number of prizes including the 2005 Bayerischer Kunstförderpreis for her performance as Blanche in Poulenc’s Dialogues des Carmélites.

In 2004 she played Asterio in Salieri’s Europa riconosciuta, the inaugural opera of the new season at La Scala, Milan. Three years later she played Freia in the La Fura dels Baus production of Das Rheingold, conducted by Zubin Mehta. She has also sung leading roles at the Opernhaus Zürich, the Bayerische Staatsoper, Venice’s La Fenice, the Teatro Regio di Parma, the Teatro Regio Torino and the Teatro Comunale di Bologna.

She maintains a busy schedule of concert and recital appearances, with an extensive repertoire ranging from the Baroque to contemporary music. France’s Académie du disque lyrique awarded her an Orphée d’Or (Prix Elisabeth Schwarzkopf) in 2016–17 for her album Ludwig Thuille und Richard Strauss, eine Jugendfreundschaft (Dux).
