Valeriy Sokolov has collaborated with the Philharmonia Orchestra, the Chamber Orchestra of Europe, the Cleveland Orchestra, the Tonhalle Orchestra Zurich, the Rotterdam Philharmonic, the City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra, the Tokyo Symphony, the Moscow Philharmonic Orchestra, the Seoul Philharmonic, NAC Ottawa, the Orchestre National de France and the Deutsche Kammerphilharmonie Bremen. He works frequently with conductors including Vladimir Ashkenazy, David Zinman, Susanna Malkki, Andris Nelsons, Peter Oundjian, Yannick Nézet-Séguin, Vasily Petrenko, Herbert Soudant and Juraj Valcuha. He has performed at Verbier and Lockenhaus, and regularly with Evgeny Izotov in recital. In 2010 Sokolov recorded the concertos of Bartók and Tchaikovsky under the direction of David Zinman and Tonhalle Orchestra Zurich. He studied with Natalia Boyarskaya at the Yehudi Menuhin School in England, and continued his studies with Felix Andrievsky, Mark Lubotsky, Ana Chumachenko, Gidon Kremer and Boris Kushnir. He was first prize winner of the 2005 George Enescu International Violin Competition in Bucharest, Romania.
