Soprano Darina Takova was born in the Bulgarian capital of Sofia where she studied at the Music Academy before becoming a resident artist of the Sofia Opera in 1991. She made her debut as Gilda in Verdi’s Rigoletto, followed by the title role in Lucia di Lammermoor and the Queen of the Night in Die Zauberflöte, a role which won her the Toti Dal Monte Competition in Treviso in 1994. Her career has taken her to opera houses and concert halls throughout Europe, with an increasingly wide repertoire.
