Sarah Jouffroy started her musical studies as a cellist, turning to singing at the age of twenty, with private lessons and then study at the Lyon Conservatoire with Hélène Lucas. She made her stage début in Offenbach’s Geneviève de Brabant and Le Docteur Ox, followed by the rôle of Nicklausse in Les contes d’Hoffmann and Dorabella in Così fan tutte at the Opéra de Marseille.

She has appeared as a soloist in oratorio and works regularly with Bernard Tétu, under whose direction she has sung the Mother, the Chinese cup and the Dragonfly in Ravel’s L’Enfant et les Sortilèges, and her first Carmen. Among other rôles have been that of the Sorceress in Purcell’s Dido and Aeneas, Rosette in Massenet’s Manon and Madelon in Messager’s Fortunio.
