Born in Dmitrovgrad, Ulyanovsk region, Mikhail Kazakov completed his studies at the Kazan Conservatory in 2001. While still a second-year student, he took part in a performance of Giuseppe Verdi’s Requiem at the Tartar Theatre of Opera and Ballet. In 2001 he joined the Bolshoy Theatre Opera Company as soloist, singing leading Russian and Italian rôles. He has won a number of prizes, with appearances in Vienna, Dresden, Paris and America.
