Swiss soprano Rachel Harnisch has appeared in rôles including Pamina in Die Zauberflöte, Contessa in Le nozze di Figaro, Fiordiligi in Così fan tutte, Michaela in Bizet’s Carmen, Marzelline in Fidelio, Sophie in Der Rosenkavalier, Antonia in Les Contes d’Hoffmann, Blanche in Poulenc’s Les Dialogues des Carmélites, Clemence in Kajia Saariaho’s L’amour de loin, Anne Truelove in The Rake’s Progress, Helene in Donizetti’s Le Duc d’Albe, Rachel in La Juive and Emilia Mary in The Makropoulos Case at leading opera houses of Europe.
She has collaborated with conductors such as Vladimir Ashkenazy, Philippe Herreweghe, Kent Nagano, Dimitri Kitajenko, Roberto Abbado, John Neschling, Christian Zacharias, Stefan Soltesz, Sir Christopher Hogwood, Sir Antonio Pappano, Michel Plasson, Jeffrey Tate, Daniele Rustioni and Tomaš Netopil.
As a concert singer and recitalist she performs a wide repertoire. She has sung Das Marienleben several times at, among other places, the prestigious Lucerne Festival. Since autumn 2016 she has taught voice at the Hochschule der Künste Bern.
