The Swedish tenor Joachim Bäckström has appeared as Tamino at the Royal Swedish Opera in Stockholm and the Royal Danish Opera in Copenhagen. He sang Don José in Carmen at the Royal Danish Opera, at the Finnish National Opera and at the Malmö Opera He has sung Atis in Joseph Martin Krauss’ Proserpin at Musikfestspiele Potsdam Sanssouci and has performed roles like des Grieux in Massenet’s Manon, Rodolfo in La Bohème and Roméo in Roméo et Juliette.

Joachim Bäckström studied at the Royal Danish Opera Academy in Copenhagen has received scholarships and awards like Birgit Nilsson, Christina Nilsson and Jussi Björling Society.
