Born in Catania, Giulio Pelligra studied singing with Elisabeth Lombardini-Smith. He won first prize at the Salvatore Cicero Competition and the special prize at the Giovanni Pacini International Competition. He has sung Count Almaviva (Il barbiere di Siviglia) at the Teatro Civico, La Spezia and the National Theatre of Malta, and Roméo (Roméo et Juliette) in Pisa, Ravenna, Trento and Rovigo, as well as Nemorino (L’elisir d’amore) at the Teatro Greco, Taormina, the Teatro Comunale in Piacenza and in Bolzano, and at the festival in Massa Marittima. In the 2011–2012 season he made his début as Beppe (Pagliacci) at the Teatro Comunale, Ravenna and the Teatro del Giglio in Lucca. He made his début at the Bregenz Regional Theatre in Donizetti’s L’elisir d’amore and as Riccardo in Wolf-Ferrari’s I quattro rusteghi with the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra. In March 2013 he made his début as Ismaele in Verdi’s Nabucco at the Teatro Massimo in Palermo.
