Antonello Manacorda’s versatility as a conductor is rooted in the richness of his musical and cultural background: born into a French-Italian family in Turin, he is a long-time resident of Berlin. Manacorda was a founding member and longstanding concert master of the Mahler Chamber Orchestra before studying under Jorma Panula.
Today, Manacorda appears at world renowned opera houses as well as at the helm of leading symphony orchestras. At the heart of his work is the Kammerakademie Potsdam – an ensemble he has shaped as its artistic director since 2010.
He has produced a series of award-winning recordings with the Kammerakademie Potsdam on Sony Classical, including an acclaimed Schubert cycle, which received the 2015 Echo (Opus) Klassik ‘Orchestra of the Year’ award, and Mozart’s Symphonies Nos. 39–41, which also received the Opus Klassik award in the same category in 2022.
Highlights of the 2023–24 season include guest appearances with the Sächsische Staatskapelle Dresden, Helsinki Philharmonic Orchestra and SWR Symphonieorchester, as well as operas at the Royal Opera House, Covent Garden, the Opéra Bastille in Paris and Wiener Staatsoper.
