The Italian soprano Mariangela Sicilia was born in Cosenza, where she studied singing and piano at the Music Academy. She continued her training at the Scuola dell’Opera Italiana at the Teatro Comunale di Bologna, the Mozart Academy in Aix-en-Provence and the Accademia Rossiniana in Pesaro. She has won several awards, including third place at Operalia 2014.

Sicilia is a regular guest in productions at the Rossini Opera Festival in Pesaro, where she performed roles as Corinna in Il viaggio a Reims, Albina in La donna del lago, Elvira in L’Italiana in Algeri and Isabella in L’inganno felice. She has also sung at opera houses such as the Teatro di San Carlo (Violetta Valéry, La traviata), the Opéra national de Paris (Musetta, La Bohème and Madamigella Jouvenot, Adriana Lecouvreur), the Teatro dell’Opera di Roma (Corinna, Il viaggio a Reims) and the Teatro Regio di Torino (Micaëla, Carmen).
