Marcel Beekman sings both Baroque and Classical as well as contemporary repertoire. The Dutch tenor has performed with the Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra, Amsterdam, the Los Angeles Philharmonic, the Orchestra of the Eighteenth Century and Les Arts Florissants, with conductors such as Sir Simon Rattle, William Christie and Frans Brüggen. Beekman has premiered work by composers such as Calliope Tsoupaki, Martijn Padding and Micha Hamel.
His opera repertoire includes the title role in Platée by Rameau (with which he had international success in Vienna, Paris and New York under the stage direction of Robert Carsen), Berenice (L’Ipermestra), Arnalta and Nutrice (L’incoronazione di Poppea), Maître de musique (Les fêtes vénitiennes) and Le Sénéchal (L’Écume des jours by Edison Denisov).
