Christophe Mortagne studied at the Paris Conservatoire, and has worked with Stefan Herheim, Kasper Holten, Laurent Pelly, Fabio Luisi, Marc Minkowski and Antonio Pappano, among others. As an actor he has been a member of the Comédie-Française.
Recent operatic highlights include the role of Guillot de Morfontaine in Manon at the Royal Opera House Covent Garden (ROH) with Anna Netrebko and Ermonela Jaho, the Metropolitan Opera with Anna Netrebko and Diana Damrau, the Teatro alla Scala (debut), the NHK Hall in Tokyo, the Four Servants in Offenbach’s Les Contes d’Hoffmann at the Bregenzer Festspiele, the LA Opera, and the Metropolitan Opera, and Spalanzani in Les Contes d’Hoffmann at the ROH, the Semperoper Dresden, Musikfest Bremen and the Festspielhaus Baden-Baden.
Performances also include Eugene Onegin (Opéra National de Lyon, the ROH, Canadian Opera Company), Tosca (Chorégies d’Orange), Turandot (Bregenzer Festspiele), the title role of Offenbach’s Le Roi Carotte (Opéra National de Lyon, Opéra de Lille), and Elektra (Opéra National de Bordeaux).
