Founded in 2005 by Mathieu Romano, Ensemble Aedes is devoted to performing choral music from the last five centuries, including premieres of new works. With forces varying from 17 to 40 professional singers, the ensemble’s vast repertory spans a cappella cycles, oratorios and operas. It regularly works with eminent ensembles such as Les Musiciens du Louvre, the Orchestre de Paris and the Latvian Radio Choir.
In residence at the Théâtre Impérial de Compiègne and the Vézelay Cité de la Voix, the ensemble has performed in many other prestigious venues, such as the Philharmonie de Paris, Théâtre des Champs-Élysées, Royal Opera of Versailles and the Bordeaux Opera. Ensemble Aedes has taken part in numerous the festivals and performed in a large number of concert halls and opera houses across France.
Through its residencies in the Bourgogne-Franche-Comté and Hauts-de-France regions, the ensemble puts together an annual season of teaching and cultural outreach projects. The ensemble also extends its performing reach to places such as hospitals and prisons.
