The Austrian bass, Christoph Seidl, studied at the Vienna Music University (MDW) with Ralf Döring, Robert Holl and Florian Boesch, and took masterclasses with Angelika Kirchschlager, Thomas Hampson and Helmut Deutsch. A member of the Young Singer’s Project of the Salzburg Festival in 2013, Seidl joined the International Opera Studio of Zurich Opera in 2013–14, followed by two years at the Junges Ensemble of the Theater an der Wien.
Concerts soon took him to Brussels (Bozar), Moscow (the Bolshoi) and New York (Avery Fisher Hall). From 2016 he has been a member of the ensemble of the Gärtnerplatztheater Munich.
Christoph’s opera repertoire includes the roles Osmin, Commendatore, Sarastro, Gremin (Eugen Onegin), Alidoro (La Cenerentola), Georg Talbot (Maria Stuarda) and Baculus (Wildschütz).
He has worked with conductors such as Bertrand de Billy, Teodor Currentzis, Hans Graf, Thomas Hengelbrock, René Jacobs, Fabio Luisi, Sir Antonio Pappano and Sebastian Weigle, as well as directors including Robert Carsen, Claus Guth, Tatjana Gürbaca, Andreas Homoki and Peter Stein.
