Diego Godoy studied singing with Rodrigo Tapia Salfate and the mezzo-soprano Graciela Araya at the Ramón Vinay Centre for Opera Studies in his native Chile. He won the Young Artists Award of the Concurso Canto Trujillo in Peru. His opera debut was as Benvolio in Gounod’s Roméo et Juliette at the Teatro Municipal in Santiago where he went on to sing the main roles in operas by Rossini and Donizetti. For two seasons Godoy sang in the Studio of the Opéra National du Rhin in operas from Mozart to Donizetti.

He has performed the roles of Lindoro in L’italiana in Algeri at the Teatro di Pisa, Ernesto in Don Pasquale at Warsaw Chamber Opera, Ferrando in Così fan tutte at the Opéra de Reims and as Snout in Britten’s A Midsummer Night’s Dream at the Opéra de Tours. On the concert stage he sang the role of Uriel in Haydn’s Die Schöpfung at the Festival Donizetti di Bergamo.
