Lithuanian soprano Ausrine Stundyte specialises in portraying strong female roles in opera. She has performed Renata in Prokofiev’s The Fiery Angel, Katerina Ismailova in Shostakovitch’s Lady Macbeth of the Mtsensk District, the title roles in Strauss’s Elektra and Salome, Leonore in Fidelio, Heliane in Korngold’s Das Wunder der Heliane, Montezuma in Rihm’s Die Eroberung von Mexico, and the title role in Tosca.

Along the way, she has worked with stage directors including Christof Loy, Calixto Bieito, Dmitri Tcherniakov, Tatjana Gürbaca, Robert Carsen, Peter Konwitschny, Graham Vick, Krzysztof Warlikowski and Barrie Kosky; and with conductors including Fabio Luisi, Zubin Mehta, Dmitri Jurowski, Gianandrea Noseda, Kazushi Ono and Ingo Metzmacher.

Her international career has taken her to the opera centres of Europe, including Paris, Florence, Venice, Berlin, Cologne, Munich, Hamburg, Vienna, Zurich, Amsterdam and Helsinki, and further afield, to Seattle and São Paulo.
