A fellow of the Opera Foundation in 2017/18, American baritone Dean Murphy has been a member of the Deutsche Oper Berlin ensemble since the 2021/22 season. He made his debut in Der Freischütz at the Theater an der Wien, as Schaunard (La Bohème) at the Semperoper Dresden and as Jean in Boesmans’ Julie at the Opéra national de Lorraine. Recent highlights include his debut as Prince Jeletzki (Pique Dame) and Der Heerrufer des Königs (Lohengrin) at Deutsche Oper Berlin, and his debut as Achilla (Giulio Cesare) at Blackwater Valley Opera Festival.
