Juan Diego Flórez trained at the National Conservatory of Music in Lima and the Curtis Institute. He made his theatre debut at the Teatro alla Scala in Milan under Riccardo Muti and has since performed the most important opera roles for tenor, including Raoul de Nangis in Les Huguenots at Deutsche Oper Berlin and Gennaro in Lucrezia Borgia at Bayerische Staatsoper Munich.
In 2011 Flórez founded Sinfonia por el Perù, for which he received the World Economie Forum Crystal Award. He is a recipient of the Gran Cruz de la Orden del Sol, Peru’s highest distinction.
