Stefano Secco began his studies of piano and singing under the guidance of M° Alberto Soresina and subsequently received a diploma in percussion with M° Tullio De Piscopo. Secco privately followed Maestri like Franco Corelli, Franca Mattiucci, and attended master-classes led by Leyla Gencer and Renata Scotto, among others.

After his first professional experiences and various tours in Italy and abroad, he sang the rôle of Fenton in Falstaff at the “Teatro Verdi” of Sassari and was immediately engaged at the “Teatro dell’Opera” in Rome as a soloist tenor for the Messa di Gloria of Puccini and the Te Deum of Berlioz. In the same theatre, he sang the rôle of Rodolfo in a successful production of La Bohème.

Following these performances, Secco was soon cast to sing in Rigoletto (Duca of Mantova) at the “Teatro Regio” of Turin, at the “Wiener Staatsoper”, at the theatre of Toulouse, at the Frankfurt theatre, at the Massimo theatre of Palermo, Venezia, Baltimore, in Coruna, at the Arena of Avenches, Stockholm and in the near future at the “Opera Bastille” in Paris.

Secco has also performed La Bohéme (Rodolfo) at the “Teatro Regio” of Parma, “Teatro dell’Opera” in Rome, “Opera Bastille” in Paris, at the Puccini Festival in Torre Del Lago and together with Angela Gheorghiu in occasion of a Galá in Wiesbaden.

He has appeared in La Traviata (Alfredo) in Venice, Tokyo, Barcelona, Hamburg, Frankfurt, Florence and under the direction of maestro Muti at the La Scala theatre in Milan.

He has also appeared in Madama Butterfly (Pinkerton) at the “Teatro dell’Opera” in Rome, at the Puccini Festival in Torre Del Lago and soon at the Comunale theatre of Florence.

Secco has appeared in Lucia di Lamermoor (Edgardo) at the Deutsche Oper of Berlin and in Liège, Roberto Devereux in Oviedo and at the Wiener Staatsoper, the rôle of Arturo in I Puritani at the Bellini theatre in Catania under the direction of Maestro Gustav Kuhn, the rôle of Gualtiero in Pirata in Amsterdam conducted by Giuliano Carella, Nemorino in Elixir of Love at the Liceu theatre of Barcelona and at Covent Garden.

He also sang the important rôle of De Grieux in Manon di Massenet at the Grand Theatre of Geneve and at the Liceu of Barcelona.

He also appeared in Simone Boccanegra (Gabriele Adorno) at the Opera Bastille in Paris and Cagliari.

He achieved success at the Philharmonic theatre of Verona for the opera Mosè in Egypt in the difficult rôle of Osiride under the musical direction of Claudio Scimone.

He sang as a soloist at the Teatro dell’Opera in Rome in the Stabat Mater of Rossini conducted by Maestro Stefano Ranzani and at the new Auditorium Parco della Musica in Giulietta and Romeo (radio live broadcast) under Maestro Chung. He also obtained great success with La boheme al Teatro Regio di Parma, Rigoletto and the rôle of Don Carlo at the Opera Bastille in a new production under the direction of Graham Vick, La Traviata in Tokyo. He made his début with great reviews from the publics and critics with Luisa Miller at Staatoper in München and at Teatro Comunale in Florence.

He also sang Macbeth at Operà Bastille in Paris.

His other engagements include: Rigoletto in Montecarlo, Un ballo in maschera at Semperoper in Dresden, Rigoletto at La Scala in Milan under Maestro James Conlon, Werther and Le contes d’Hoffamann in Frankfurt, Carmen at Colon in Buenos Aires, La boheme in Staatsoper Munich and at the Bastille Opera, Faust and Madama Butterfly at San Francisco Opera under the musical direction of Nicola Luisotti.
