Franz Vitzthum had his early musical training as a chorister of Regensburg Cathedral. He completed his vocal studies with Kai Wessel at the Cologne Musikhochschule in 2007 and has collaborated as a soloist with conductors including Hermann Max, Christoph Poppen, Peter Neumann and Nicholas McGegan. In addition to work with his own vocal ensemble Stimmwerck, he has appeared as a guest performer with leading vocal ensembles, including Singer Pur, Weser Renaissance (Manfred Cordes), and Gesualdo Consort Amsterdam (Harry van der Kamp). He has been a guest at international festivals, including the Handel Festival in Göttingen, Halle and Karlsruhe, the Leipzig Bachfest, Vienna Resonanzen, Nantes La Folle Journée and Philadelphia Bach Festival. He has made many broadcasts and recordings.
