Sought-after tenor Michael Spyres was born and raised in the Ozarks. His meteoric rise has seen him establish his career at venues such as the Teatro alla Scala, The Metropolitan Opera, the Royal Opera House, Covent Garden, Opéra national de Paris, Bayerische Staatsoper, Wiener Staatsoper, Teatro Real, Gran Teatre del Liceu and Lyric Opera of Chicago as well as at the Salzburg and Bayreuth Festivals.
His repertoire includes iconic tenor roles from diverse composers such as Adam, Auber, Bellini, Beethoven, Bernstein, Berlioz, Bizet, Donizetti, Gounod, Handel, Haydn, Massenet, Meyerbeer, Mozart, Offenbach, Puccini, Rossini, Spontini, Verdi and Wagner. Spyres has been the artistic director of Ozarks Lyric Opera, his hometown opera company, since 2015.
