The Prague-based Baroque orchestra, Collegium 1704 and its vocal ensemble, Collegium Vocale 1704, were founded by Václav Luks in 2005. Since 2007 both ensembles have appeared regularly at festivals all over Europe and received international praise for their recordings. As well as performing important compositions from the Baroque repertoire, they have promoted the work of Czech masters such as Jan Dismas Zelenka and Josef Mysliveček. In 2008 Collegium 1704 founded the Music Bridge Prague-Dresden concert series.
Collaborations with renowned soloists such as Magdalena Kožená, Vivica Genaux and Bejun Mehta led to a second concert series at the Rudolfinum in Prague in 2012. The ensembles’ other appearances include the Salzburg Festival, where they made their début in 2015, the Philharmonie in Berlin, the Theater an der Wien, the Konzerthaus in Vienna, the Concertgebouw in Amsterdam, Wigmore Hall, Versailles, the Lucerne Festival and the Chopin Festival.
They were also artists-in-residence at the prestigious Utrecht Early Music Festival and the Leipzig Bachfest.
