Born in Bilbao, the soprano Marta Ubieta studied piano and singing at the Conservatorio Superior de la Villa Juan Crisóstomo de Arriaga, later studying with Anabe Hernández in Bilbao, Mary Downing in France and Gianni Mastino in Verona. In 1998 she won the Fin de Carrera competition, after prizes in the Logroño competition and the Liceo Manuel Usensi contest. Her career has brought appearances in concert-halls throughout Spain, and in zarzuela and opera.
