Born in Speyer, the mezzo-soprano Anke Vondung began her distinguished career as a pupil of Rudolf Piernay in Mannheim.

The winner of various international competitions and prizes, including the Hans Gabor Belvedere Singing Competition in Vienna and the ARD International Music Competition, she is a versatile and expressive singer, and has garnered acclaim for her deep emotional understanding and technical ability.

Her passion for Lieder has resulted in recitals and performances with vocal quartets that have taken her to international venues, including Wigmore Hall, Grand Théâtre de Genève, the Concertgebouw in Amsterdam and Teatro La Fenice in Venice among others. Her operatic activity has seen performances at the Tirolean Regional Theatre, Innsbruck under Brigitte Fassbaender, and the Semperoper Dresden, where she is a guest singer. She has made guest appearances at the Metropolitan Opera in New York, Opéra Bastille in Paris, Dutch National Opera, San Diego Opera and Glyndebourne, and at the Salzburg and Bregenz Festivals.

She has also made a number of recordings, and has collaborated with many famous orchestras and conductors across the globe.
