American-born tenor Michael McCown trained in Boston, and became a member of the Oper Frankfurt ensemble in 2001. Most recently, he has appeared as Johnny Inkslinger (Paul Bunyan), Monostatos (Die Zauberflöte) and Valzacchi (Der Rosenkavalier). At Oper Frankfurt he has performed the roles of Prior Walter (Angels in America), Antonio (The Tempest) and the Duke of Cornwall (Reimann’s Lear, released in 2008 on Oehms Classics), among others.
McCown has made guest appearances at Aldeburgh Festival, Utah Opera, the Aalto Theatre in Essen, the Bayerische Staatsoper in Munich and the Schauspiel Frankfurt.
