Miguel Sola studied music at the Madrid Conservatory from which he graduated with first prize in singing. His musical career has been varied and extensive. He has participated in concerts, operas, polyphony, zarzuelas and oratorios with the principal Spanish orchestras. The latest of his recordings was of La Revoltosa and La Gran Via with Plácido Domingo. He has performed in many theatres, including the Madrid Teatro Real, the Teatro de la Maestranza in Seville and the Gran Teatre del Liceu in Barcelona. He performed the rôle of Figaro in the première of José Ramón Encinar’s opera of the same name, and appeared in the zarzuela El Gato Montes by Penella with Domingo at the Madrid Teatro de la Zarzuela, the Teatro de La Maestranza in Seville, and in Tokyo. He was invited to participate in the Amsterdam Christmas Gala under conductor Riccardo Chailly, televised throughout Europe. He was also invited to the Yehudi Menuhin Festival performing the rôle of Don Bartolo in Il barbiere di Siviglia. In 2000 he was invited to Bayreuth to perform the principal rôle in Rossini’s opera Mosè in Egitto. In 2003 he was awarded the Federico Romero prize for his continuing work in opera. His career has brought collaboration with Pavarotti, Kraus, and Joan Pons, and stage directors Franco Zeffirelli, Nuria Espert, and Emilio Sagi, among others.
