Ukrainian violist Maxim Rysanov works with student Timothy Ridout on the first three movements of Brahms's Clarinet (or Viola) Sonata No. 1, Op.120. Originally composed for the clarinet in the 1890s, Brahms himself arranged and supervised publications of the work for viola. The profoundly beautiful sonata quickly became one of the most popular of the viola's solo repertoire.
