Almost seventy years of creative activity lay between Verdi's first compositions for Busseto and his corrections of the Falstaff score in 1893. From a craftsman who produced melodramatic operas on the assembly line for some local theatre operation, he became an artistic genius whose complex works ranked as world wide theatrical events.
