Global Treasures - History's Most Protected Monuments - Heritage is our legacy from the past, what we live today, and what we pass on to future generations. Our cultural and natural heritage are both irreplaceable sources of life and inspiration. Places as unique and diverse as the wilds of East Africa's Serengeti, the Pyramids of Egypt, the Great Barrier Reef in Australia and the Baroque cathedrals of Latin America make up our world's heritage. Join us as we explore one of these protected monuments.

Dougga is situated in the southwest region of Tunisia's legendary Carthage and is the world's best-preserved Roman city. The life and luxury of the advanced Roman civilization made its mark with spas, temples and forums and demonstrated the achievements of this wealthy Roman settlement.

Cobbled streets link each part of the city, and graceful Greek pillars and tall portals of Etruscan origin decorate expansive spa districts. Over a mosaic square are the remains of the temple of the holy triad, Jupiter, Juno and Minerva. Monumental steps and decorated pillars seem to point toward a heavenly existence on Earth.
