Situated in the small Finnish town of Kerimaki is the Kerimaen Kirkko. Close to the fascinating lake district of the Savonlinna region, the inhabitants of Kerimaki wanted to have a church that was a little different. At 45 metres long and 42 metres wide, Kerimaki Church is the largest timber-built Christian church in the world.

The building of the wooden church was the achievement of the entire church community, as each member of the local neighborhood took part in its construction.

The wooden pews can seat a congregation of more than 3,000. In fact it has been known to accommodate up to 5,000!

Along with the bell tower, the Kerimaen Kirkko creates a harmonious unity in a wonderful setting of trees and is justifiably Kerimaki's most spoken-about and fascinating landmark.
