The style for this orchestral excerpt should be more elegant and serious, because it represents an old man, the grandfather. It must not be so jazzy and rhythm must be precise and energic, with "pesante" character.

To pass an audition successfully, Klaus Thunemann advises the student to perform it with much seriousness referred to the expression, and to study also the rhythm and tuning with much more precision. Finally, as an example about the rhythm required in a certain moment, the professor plays a fragment from the Ravel's Bolero.
