In this masterclass they mainly work on phrasing and metrics. For the professor is important that the quartet knows the harmony of the piece in every moment to perform this phrasing and metrics (polimetrics, in professor's opinion) according to that.

They also work on other musical issues related to dynamics, bowings and bow direction, or accents and always regarding the rapport and organization between the members of the quartet. In a certain moment, the character should not be so heavy, and Schmidt makes also comments on color regarding the required type of sound.

They go on working the metrics, articulation and notes duration by the different instruments separately. Finally, they think about the more suitable tempo for the end.
