The tenor Norbert Ernst was born in Vienna and studied in Wiener Neutstadt (to which he has returned to teach in 2023) and Vienna with the likes of Robert Holl, Charles Spencer, Walter Berry, and Kurt Equiluz. He got his start in Düsseldorf, Paris, and Bayreuth, where he was the third squire in Parsifal under Pierre Boulez in 2004. Since the 2010/11 season, Ernst has been a member of the Vienna State Opera. His Wagner, especially his much-praised Loge (Rheingold), is in demand the world over.
