Sebastian Weigle was Director General of Music at Oper Frankfurt Opera from 2008 to 2023.
The former Staatskapellmeister at the Berlin State Opera and General Director of Music at the Gran Teatre del Liceu in Barcelona has made international guest appearances on the most important stages, including The Metropolitan Opera in New York, the State Operas in Vienna, Berlin, Munich, Dresden and Hamburg, the Royal Opera House, Covent Garden in London, the Opera House in Zurich, as well as at the Bayreuth Festival and at the Spring Festival in Tokyo.
In addition, Sebastian Weigle has been principal conductor of the Yomiuri Nippon Symphony Orchestra in Japan since 2019, which, under his baton, was awarded the Mitsubishi UFJ Trust Music Award in 2019 for Salome.
